Al-Mubīn (The Evident) - Exalted be He

Stick to the door of your Lord, the Evident, seek honor and power from the Ever-Mighty and All-Knowing God, and implore Him by worshiping Him, and He will bestow His grace upon you.

If you obey Him, He honors you and bestows His favors upon you; and if you neglect your duties, He shows mercy to you and gives you respite. And if you turn to Him in repentance, He accepts your repentance. And if you commit sins and act wrongly, He conceals them for you!

Our hearts are only alive by virtue of closeness to Him, and the tears only flow out of fear of being away from Him, or in hope for being connected with Him.

Someone rightly said, “By Allah, how desolate a path is if Allah did not secure it, and how misguided a path is if Allah is not your guide!”

We are in dire need to reach the door of Allah, the Evident, so as to make our way clear.

Let us approach the lights of one of the names of Allah Almighty, namely Al-Mubīn (the Evident).

Praising Himself, Allah Almighty says: {That Day, Allah will pay them in full their deserved recompense, and they will know that it is Allah Who is the Truth, the Evident.} [Surat al-Nūr: 25]

Evident means clear and apparent.

Our Lord, Exalted be He, is the Evident to all creatures and Whose existence and oneness is evident, and so is the fact that there is no partner to Him in His lordship, divinity, names, or attributes.

And it is our Almighty Lord Who shows to His servants the path of guidance and makes clear to them the deeds that entail reward and those that entail punishment. On the Day of Judgment, the doubts of the hypocrites who used to argue about Allah’s promises in the worldly life, will go away.

Being evident is one of the greatest Attributes of Allah Almighty.

He is Evident in two ways:

First: Allah is Evident through His books and revelations which He sent down to His prophets and messengers: {There has come to you from Allah a light and an evident Book.} [Surat al-Mā’idah: 15]

Second: He is Evident through the signs He created which are indicating to their Creator. {Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and earth and the alternation of the night and day are signs for those who understand.} [Surat Ᾱl-‘Imrān: 190]

In everything there is a sign proving that He is the One God.

As the Qur’an is evident, so were the messengers of Allah (peace be upon them). Prophet Nūh is quoted in the Qur’an as saying: {I am only an evident warner.} [Surat ash-Shu‘arā’: 115] Allah Almighty commanded Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) to say: {It has only been revealed to me that I am a clear warner.} [Sād: 70]

Moreover, Allah Almighty informs His servants in His books and by the tongues of His messengers that, on the Day of Judgment, He will clarify the things about which they differ in the worldly life. He says: {And He will surely make evident to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ.} [Surat an-Nahl: 92]

If the truth is made evident to someone and he still turns away from it, his recompense will be a painful punishment. Allah Almighty says: {But if you deviate after evident proofs have come to you, then know that Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.} [Surat al-Baqarah: 209]

Likewise, he who conceals the truth subjects himself to curse. Allah Almighty says: {Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture - those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse.} [Surat al-Baqarah: 159]

The people of intellects!

Allah, the Evident, made His signs clear to those who think and observe [1].

[1] The author of the book "Allah Ahl al-Thanā’ Wa al-Majd" says: “The believer does not need anyone to affirm to him the existence of Allah Almighty or explain to him the necessity of faith. But I will cite here some excerpts, words, testimonies, and admissions by a number of scientists, intellectuals, and philosophers. Dr. Henry Link, the well-known psychiatrist, who had disbelieved in religion, opposed faith, and denied the existence of God, returned after a long and unique journey and said, ‘Religion is the belief in some power as the source of life. This power is: the power of God, the One Who directs the universe, and is the Creator of the heavens.’ Mr. Hush said, ‘As the scope of science widens, we get strong increasing proofs of the existence of a more intelligent creator whose power is unlimited and endless. Geologists, mathematicians, astronomers, and physicists have all cooperated to construct the edifice of science, which is: the edifice of the greatness of God alone.’ For his part, Herbert Spencer elaborated in his treatise 'Education' on this issue. He said, ‘Science disproves superstitions, yet it does not contradict religion itself.’ Then, he mentioned a number of examples, saying, ‘When a scientist looks into a drop of water and knows that it is composed of oxygen and hydrogen in a particular percentage, which, if significantly changed, would turn the water into something else, he believes in the greatness, power, and wisdom of the Creator more than non-physicists, who see nothing in the drop of water except that it is merely a drop of water!’ Sir John Arthur Thomson, the well-known Scottish physicist and author, in the series of books titled 'Science and Religion', said, ‘We decide on the basis of insight that the greatest service done by science is that it led man to an idea about God that is nobler and more sublime.’ As for William James, the famous psychologist, he said, ‘There is an inseparable bond between God and us. If we subject ourselves to His guidance, all our wishes and hopes will be accomplished.’”

Showing His signs for the whole creation and rebutting the excuses of those who are obstinate, Allah Almighty says: {Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firm mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allah? [No], but most of them do not know. Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Little do you remember. Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as glad tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allah? High exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. Is He [not best] who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Say: "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."} [Surat an-Naml: 61-64] Glory be to the One Whose magnificence and clear signs dazzle the minds and eyes of those who know Him and walk on the path to Him!

Consider the plants on earth, with all its different kinds, and have a close look at all the wonderful creatures in the world,

which clearly point to the One Creator, Who has no partner.

In the concluding verses of Surat Āl-‘Imrān, Allah Almighty praises people of intellects as they open their insights to receiving His signs in the universe and turn to Him with their hearts while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides. Their hearts are filled with faith, and their hands are raised up to Allah in sincere supplication, asking Him for guidance. So, the response comes as follows: {And their Lord responded to them: “Never will I allow the work of [any] worker among you to be lost, whether male or female; you are of one another. So those who emigrated or were evicted from their homes or were harmed in My cause or fought or were killed - I will surely expiate for them their misdeeds, and I will surely admit them to gardens under which rivers flow, as reward from Allah, and with Allah is the best reward.”} [Surat Ᾱl-‘Imrān: 195]

O Allah, we implore You by Your name "the Evident" to admit us into the Gardens of Bliss and save us from Hellfire, O Lord of the worlds!
